For over twenty years, Work Is Progress has been operating in Morocco, promoting pathways to socio-labour inclusion and local development. The programme has an administrative headquarters in Settat and operational offices in Rabat and Marrakech, supported by several territorial branches in the central-northern part of the country, including Tangier.

Over time, a strong network of collaborations has been built with public institutions and civil society organisations, including the Maison de Jeune system in the Tangier–Tétouan–Al Hoceima Region and the Écoles de la Deuxième Chance in the Rabat–Salé–Kenitra Region, both engaged in supporting young people and facilitating their reintegration into education and employment.

Through these partnerships, the programme supports young people experiencing employment vulnerability in building concrete job opportunities. Activities include the incubation of collective start-ups, technical and financial assistance for the creation of individual micro-enterprises, the strengthening of local associations also through an e-learning platform, and the organisation of Job Days to promote the matching of labour supply and demand.

Since 2023, a pilot initiative on circular mobility and regular migration between Morocco and Italy has also been launched, offering young Moroccan women and men the opportunity to access training and work experiences through preparation and support pathways in both countries.

Over the past year, 166 enterprises supported over time have been monitored, while innovative tools have been promoted to enhance the professional skills of programme participants, including many individuals from sub-Saharan African countries.

Particular attention has also been dedicated to supporting Moroccan women in the High Atlas areas affected by the 2023 earthquake: more than 125 women have been accompanied in developing income-generating activities and strengthening local associations and cooperatives.

These activities are carried out by a multidisciplinary team composed of technical trainers, coaches, job counsellors, social workers, psychologists and legal and administrative advisors, ensuring integrated support aimed at building sustainable socio-labour autonomy over time.
