Today, Thursday 5 June, on the occasion of World Environment Day, we want to share with you the story of Andrea, an Ivorian beneficiary of our programmes who wanted to combine her skills and passions to successfully carry out her ecological and sustainable project aimed at women.
Andrea, 27, is an Ivorian entrepreneur who has started an innovative production of eco-friendly products for menstrual cycle management. After learning the art of sewing through online tutorials during the pandemic, she established a small workshop to produce menstrual wipes, nursing cups, and other sustainable products, primarily targeting individuals, NGOs, and institutions.
Andrea chose to participate in the Work Is Progress Program to develop her business. Interested in receiving strategic support, she submitted her application and, once selected, embarked on a journey that included training in business management, marketing, and fundraising. She received direct advice, including through WhatsApp, and funding that helped her increase production and cover the costs of certifying her products.
Thanks to the support from the Work Is Progress team, Andrea was able to better structure her business, create a solid business plan, and improve visibility through an updated website and promotional materials. She also diversified her product range, responding to the varied needs of women. Thanks to the program’s support, she has participated in awareness-raising events and expanded her market, although the cost of her products remains a challenge, particularly for women in rural areas.
Andrea is a testament to determination. Through the Work Is Progress Program, she has transformed an innovative idea into a growing business, overcoming challenges and striving for a sustainable future. “The continuous support from Soleterre’s consultants has given me the strength to keep going, and thanks to the program, I’ve found new opportunities to grow my business.”
